Writing style settings
Last modified: 04 March 2025The Writing style page lets you customize grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style checks specific to a context such as public or informal.

Grazie comes with the Default writing style, suitable for writing assistance in regular daily communication. With the AI Pro subscription, you get the additional styles that also can be configured. To learn more about the available writing styles, refer to Use writing styles.
Grazie provides writing style rules for English, German, Russian, and Ukrainian. You can select the language in the upper right corner of the page.
The writing style settings are divided into the following groups:
Group | Description |
---|---|
General | Adjust general writing style settings. You can select your preferred language variant, toggle on or off other checks, and adjust additional configuration options for some of them. |
Punctuation | Configure punctuation rules that Grazie uses to check your texts. You can toggle each punctuation rule on or off and adjust additional configuration options for some of them. For example, you can specify when to use serial (Oxford) commas and define how hyphens and dashes are handled. |
Typography | Configure typography rules that Grazie uses to check your texts. You can toggle each rule on or off and adjust additional configuration options for some of them. For example, you can specify how large numbers and names with initials are formatted. |
Readability | Manage readability checks performed on your texts. For example, you can set Grazie to highlight all passive voice constructions, tautologies, redundant prepositions, and other problems that affect the readability of the text. |
Formality | Manage formality checks performed on your texts. For example, you can set Grazie to highlight shortened word forms, incorrect forms of pronouns, and other problems that affect the formality of the text. |
Inclusivity | Specify inclusivity checks performed on your texts. For example, you can adjust how gender-specific nouns are used and enable discriminatory and violent language checks. |
To customize writing style settings:
Click the Grazie icon in the browser toolbar , then click the
Settings icon.
From the main menu, select Writing style.
Select the language for which you want to customize the writing style settings in the upper right corner of the page.
Turn the available checks on or off by toggling the corresponding switches.

Some checks contain additional configuration options that are used to define their behavior.
You can turn on or off the entire group of checks. Move the pointer to the group title and click the Turn on or Turn off button.

You can reset the modified settings to their default state. Grazie lets you restore a single setting, a group of settings, or all writing style settings at once.

Language variants
If you write in English or German, you can select your preferred language variant to ensure Grazie uses the correct rules and does not highlight valid words, phrases, and sentences.
To select a language variant:
Click the Grazie icon in the browser toolbar , then click the
Settings icon.
From the main menu, select Writing style.
Select the English or German language in the upper right corner of the page.
From the sidebar, open General and select the preferred language variant from the list.
Grazie offers suggestions according to the selected language variant.
