Let’s take a look at importing projects into IntelliJ IDEA. As you’ve seen, when you open an existing project, IntelliJ IDEA will open that project with its existing project settings. When you import a project, these project settings will be created for you.

You have the option to import a project from an existing model, or from existing sources. The next sections will look at each of these and the difference between them.
