dotMemory's Network Activity

dotMemory may use your network connection for several purposes.

Purpose

Description and configuration

Check for updates

dotMemory can detect available updates and suggest downloading new versions.

Send out anonymous usage statistics

dotMemory can collect and send out some information that helps us find bottlenecks and improve the quality of the product. All information is sent anonymously.

To enable or disable this activity, use the Send Usage Statistics and Send anonymous usage statistics to Google Analytics service checkboxes in dotMemory Home | Help | License Information | Edit License | Options.

Download DAC files

When importing a process dump, dotMemory may need to download DAC files from the Microsoft symbol server.

Download dotMemory Portable

If you open a snapshot created with an older (incompatible) version of dotMemory, dotMemory will suggest downloading the required version of dotMemory Portable.

Verify license information

dotMemory may use your network to check for duplicate licenses or to obtain a license from the license server.

Normally, no additional modifications in the firewall configuration are needed. In case of any difficulties, adjust firewall settings so that dotMemory can access the network. You can also adjust the proxy settings for dotMemory's internet connection in the dotMemory Home | Settings | Web Proxy Settings.
